그리스도의 사랑(The Love of Christ)

세상은 힘을 찬양하며 추구합니다. 힘 있는 자가 되는 것이 삶의 목적입니다. 힘이 있을 때 남들보다 더 나은 삶을 살 수 있다고 믿기 때문입니다. 이들이 말하는 힘은 경제적인 힘, 곧 돈의 힘입니다. 하지만 이들이 간과한 사실은 돈이 사람의 가장 근본적인 영혼의 문제인 죄 문제를 해결해 주지 못한다는 것입니다. 온 세상을 소유했다 할지도 그 목숨을 잃으면 무슨 소용이 있겠습니까? 생명의 주인이신 하나님은 우리의 죄 문제를 해결하시기 위하여 그 아들을 아끼지 않으시고 십자가 죽음에 내어 주셨습니다. 그리스도는 죽음의 권세를 깨뜨리시고 부활하셨습니다. 그리하여 그리스도는 우리의 주와 구원자가 되셨습니다. 그리스도의 생명의 주인이십니다. 세상 어디에서 이러한 사랑을 발견할 수 있겠습니까? 간혹 친구, 자식, 부모, 국가를 위하여 자기의 하나밖에 없는 생명을 희생하는 분들이 있습니다. 이러한 분들의 이야기는 영화나 책에서 드라마틱하게 소개가 되어 있습니다. 왜냐하면 이들의 헌신적 사랑 이야기는 사람들의 마음을 감동케 하기 때문입니다. 사람들은 이러한 사랑을 갈망합니다. 그래서 많은 이들이 이러한 사랑을 찾아 술, 마약, 도박, 섹스 등에 따라가며 중독에 빠집니다. 이러한 사랑은 이 세상의 어떤 것에서도 발견되지 않습니다. 이러한 사랑은 궁극적으로 그리스도의 십자가 사랑에서 발견됩니다. 그리스도의 십자가 사랑만이 우리의 죄 문제를 해결할 수 있습니다. 그 사랑만이 우리 영혼에 참 만족과 기쁨을 줄 수 있습니다. 그 사랑만이 미움으로 분열된 세상을 치유하고 회복시킬 수 있습니다.  그 사랑만이 분열된 가정과 사회와 국가를 치유할 수 있습니다. 그 사랑만이 교회를 하나로 묶어줄 수 있습니다. 여러분은 이러한 사랑을 경험해 보셨습니까? 다른 사람들의 간증이 아니라 여러분이 경험한 이야기가 있습니까? 그리스도는 여러분을 차별, 변함, 다함 없이 사랑하십니다. 그 증거를 원하시면 그분의 십자가로 나아가 보세요. 예수님은 여러분을 기다리고 계십니다. 그분의 사랑의 품에 어린 아이처럼 안겨보세요. 그리스도의 사랑은 여러분의 삶의 뿌리요 기초가 됩니다. 그리스도의 사랑은 함께 나누는 공동체적 사랑입니다. 그리스도의 사랑은 십자가에서 자신을 아낌 없이 죄인에게 내어 주신 사랑입니다. 요한 사도는 다음과 같이 말합니다: ¹⁰ 사랑은 여기 있으니 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 오직 하나님이 우리를 사랑하사 우리 죄를 위하여 화목제로 그 아들을 보내셨음이니라 ¹¹ 사랑하는 자들아 하나님이 이같이 우리를 사랑하셨은즉 우리도 서로 사랑하는 것이 마땅하도다(요일 4:10-11). 다가오는 한 주도 이 사랑을 힘입어 살며 이 사랑을 따라 실천하시길 기원합니다.  

The world celebrates and seeks power. Its residents strive to be powerful because they believe that when they are powerful, they can live a better life than others. The power they speak of is economic power, the power of money. But what they fail to realize is that money can’t solve the most fundamental problem of all people: sin. What good is it to possess the whole world if you lose your life? God, the Lord of life, spared nothing in giving His Son to die on the cross to solve our sin problem. Christ broke the power of death and rose from the dead so that Christ could be our Lord and Savior. Christ is the Lord of life. Where else in the world can you find such love? Sometimes people sacrifice their only life for friends or for children, or for parents, or for countries. Their stories are dramatically featured in movies and books because their stories of selfless love touch people's hearts. People crave this kind of love. So many seek it out and become addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, and so on. Such love is not found in the things of this world. It is ultimately found in the love of Christ on the cross. Only the love of Christ on the cross can solve our sin problem. Only that love can bring true satisfaction and joy to our souls. Only that love can heal and restore a world divided by hatred. Only that love can heal divided families, societies, and nations. Only that love can bring the church together. Have you experienced this love, not through the testimony of others, but through your own experience? Christ loves you without discrimination, change, and measure. If you want proof of this, come to His cross; Jesus is waiting for you; embrace Him like a child in His loving arms. Christ's love is the root and foundation of your life. Christ's love is a communal love shared together. Christ's love is the love that gave Himself on the cross unreservedly to sinners. The apostle John says as follows: ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 Jn. 4:10-11). May you live and act on this love in the week ahead.
