신학 위원회 모임을 다녀와서(Having been to the meeting held by the Theological Committee)

미주 고신 신학 위원회가 개최하는 제3차 목회자 평생 교육 모임에 다녀왔습니다. 모임 장소는 아틀란타 에버그린 장로 교회였습니다. 모임 기간은 6월 3일부터 6일까지 였습니다. 주제는 강해 설교였습니다. 참석 인원은 목회자가 28명 정도 였고 사모가 5명이었습니다. 주로 미국 동부에서 목회하시는 분들이 참석하셨습니다. 강사 목사님 두 분은 한국에서 오셨습니다. 두 분 모두 설교학 박사이며 목회자입니다. 강의 시간은 아침 9시부터 저녁 9시까지 였습니다. 많은 양의 강의를 마쳐야 했기에 쉬지 않고 계속 들어야 했습니다. 긴 의자에 오랜 시간을 앉아 있어서 몸이 뻣뻣하고 집중하기가 어려웠습니다. 하지만 강의가 매우 유익하여서 졸지 않고 강의를 들을 수 있었습니다. 두 분 강사는 강해 설교에 대한 전반적인 내용을 포괄적으로 잘 다루어 주었습니다. 이분들의 설교문을 읽으며 평가도 할 수 있었습니다. 처음에는 언제 끝날까 하는 생각이 들었는데 강의 시간이 삽시간에 지나고 말았습니다. 쉬는 시간과 식사 시간에 여러 목회자 분들과 교제하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 목회 현장에서 고민하는 이야기를 나눌 수 있었습니다. 설교에 대한 부담과 노하우도 나눌 수 있는 시간이었습니다. 이번 강의를 들으며 전에 알고 있던 것을 다시 한번 복습하였습니다. 또한 설교의 중요성에 대하여 다시금 마음에 새겼습니다. 강해 설교에 대한 열정을 다시 깨울 수 있었습니다. 세번의 예배 시간을 통하여 들은 말씀은 영혼에 맛난 양식이 되었습니다. 정말 잘 먹고 잘 배우는 시간이었습니다. 물론 몸은 피곤하기도 했지만 영혼이 재충전되는 복된 시간이었습니다. 다행히도 에버그린 장로 교회까지는 2시간 30분 정도 걸리기에 피곤하지 않게 다녀올 수 있었습니다. 작년에는 델라웨어까지 가야해서 매우 피곤했는데 이번 여행은 그렇지 않습니다. 금요일 오전에는 누적된 피곤함을 느껴졌습니다. 또한 주일 예배 준비의 부담감이 느껴졌습니다. 그런데 금요일 저녁 기도회를 통하여 영혼의 부담감을 주님께 맡길 수 있었습니다. 목회자들을 위한 평생 신학 교육을 받을 수 있었다는 것에 하나님께 감사드렸습니다. 이 모임을 위하여 수고하신 신학 위원들 모두와 이 모임을 개최한 에버그린 교회에 감사의 말씀을 남기고 싶습니다. 또한 두 분의 강사 목사님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 강해 설교에 대하여 배운 것을 주일 예배에 적용하여 우리 교우들에게 유익이 돌아가길 소원해 봅니다. 주님께 모든 영광을 돌리고 우리 모든 교우분들께 감사의 마음을 전합니다. 

I attended the third continuing education gathering for clergy organized by the Theological Committee of the Koshin Denomination. The gathering was held at Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. The gathering was from June 3 to 6. The topic was expositional sermon. There were about 28 pastors and 5 wives in attendance. Most of the pastors were from the eastern United States. The two instructor pastors were from Korea, both of whom are doctors of Homiletics and pastors. The lecture time was from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. We had to listen non-stop because we had to cover a lot of materials. Sitting in a long chair for a long time made my body stiff and it was difficult to concentrate. However, the lectures were very informative, so I was able to listen to the lectures without dozing off. The two lecturers covered the overall content of the homiletics in a comprehensive way. I was able to read their sermons and evaluate them. At first, I was wondering when the lectures would end, but all the lecture times passed in a short time. During the breaks and meals, I had time to fellowship with other pastors. We was able to share our concerns in the pastoral fields, burdens and know-how about preaching. During this meeting, I reviewed what I knew before, and I was reminded of the importance of preaching. I was able to reawaken my passion for preaching. The words I heard through the three services were delicious food for my soul. It was a time of being well-fed and well-learned, and although my body was tired, my soul was blessed to be refreshed. Fortunately, the trip to Evergreen Presbyterian Church takes about two and a half hours, so I wasn't tired. Last year, I was very tired because I had to travel all the way to Delaware, but this trip was not. On Friday morning, I felt the accumulated fatigue and the burden of preparing for Sunday's service, but through the Friday evening prayer meeting, I was able to surrender the burden of my soul to the Lord. I thanked God that I was able to receive continuing theological education for pastors. I would like to thank all the theological committee members who worked hard for this gathering and Evergreen Church for hosting this gathering. I would also like to thank the two lecturer pastors. I hope that I can apply what I learned about homiletics to our Sunday services and benefit our congregation. I give all the glory to the Lord and express our gratitude to all our church members.
