하나님의 지혜인 교회의 일치(The unity of the church: the wisdom of God)

하나님의 지혜는 교회의 일치에서 발견됩니다. 하나님은 그리스도의 죽음의 변화시키는 능력을 통해 다양한 계층의 사람들을 평화로운 연합으로 이끄십니다. 그리스도의 죽음은 누구도 차별하지 않습니다. 그것은 모든 종류의 죄인에게 구원의 기쁜 소식입니다. 이 소식을 믿고 하나가 된 공동체가 바로 교회입니다. 교회는 세상을 향하여 평화와 하나됨이 무엇인지를 보여주어야 합니다. 그러나 많은 기독교 교회가 그리스도의 복음에 반하여 분열되어 있습니다. 그들이 갈등과 분열로 고통받을 때 세상은 그들을 비웃고 그리스도를 구세주와 주님으로 믿기를 거부할 것입니다. 웨일즈의 한 교회에서 새 목사를 찾는 과정에서 벌어진 불화에 관한 재미있는 뉴스가 있었습니다. 이런 내용이었죠: "어제 두 반대 단체가 모두 목사를 강단에 세웠습니다. 둘 다 동시에 연설하면서 서로 더 큰 소리로 외치려고 했습니다. 둘 다 찬송가를 부르자 회중은 두 곡을 불렀는데, 양쪽이 서로를 제압하려고 했습니다. 그러자 두 그룹은 서로 소리를 지르기 시작했습니다. 분노하며 성경을 치켜 올렸습니다. 주일 아침 예배는 난장판이 되었습니다. 그 와중에도 두 설교자는 설교를 통해 서로의 목소리를 높이려고 계속 노력했습니다. 결국 한 집사가 경찰을 불렀습니다. 두 사람이 들어와서 회중에게 조용히 하라고 소리치기 시작했어요. 그들은 교회에 있던 40여 명에게 집으로 돌아가라고 조언했습니다. 라이벌들은 여전히 언쟁을 벌이며 밖으로 나갔습니다. 지난 밤 한 그룹이 '친구가 되자'는 모임을 소집했습니다. 말다툼 끝에 헤어졌습니다." 이 글의 제목은 "할렐루야! 한 강단에 두 무례한 놈이 있다."라는 제목이었습니다. "하나의 교제 속에 두 개의 파벌"이라는 제목을 달 수도 있었을 것입니다. 이것은 우리에게 재미난 이야기가 아니라 슬픈 이야기입니다. 이 불행한 교회 분열을 통해 하나님의 마음이 얼마나 슬퍼하셨을까요! 세상은 비웃을지도 모릅니다. 그러나 우리가 교회를 향한 하나님의 마음을 느낀다면 그 교회를 비웃을 수 없습니다. 세상은 그리스도의 교회가 그렇게 되기를 원합니다. 그러나 그리스도께서는 아버지와 아들이 하나이신 것처럼 교회가 그 안에서 하나가 되기를 기도하셨습니다. 교회의 일치를 위해 우리는 무엇을 해야 할까요? 우리는 모든 계층의 사람들에게 그리스도의 복음을 전해야 합니다. 우리는 설교할 때 인종, 나이, 문화, 국적에 따라 사람들을 차별해서는 안 됩니다. 만약 그렇게 한다면 그것은 그리스도의 메시지의 본질에 어긋나는 것입니다. 그리스도는 평화입니다. 그리스도는 하나님과 죄인 사이의 화해자이십니다. 이것이 우리의 메시지입니다. 우리는 평화의 복음과 우리의 하나됨을 통하여 세상에 참된 평화와 하나됨의 복이 어떤 것인지를 보여주어야 합니다. 이것은 하나님의 지혜 능력과 영광을 세상에 보여주는 것입니다. 

The wisdom of God is found in the unity of the church. God brings different classes of people into peaceful unity through the transforming power of Christ’s death. Christ’s death never discriminates against anyone. It is the good news of salvation to all types of sinners. The community that believes and is united by this news is the church. The church must show the world what peace and unity look like. However, many Christian churches are divided against the gospel of Christ. When they suffer from conflicts and divisions, the world will laugh at them and refuse to believe in Christ as Savior and Lord. An amusing news story from Wales told of a feud in a church looking for a new pastor. It read: "Yesterday the two opposition groups both sent ministers to the pulpit. Both spoke simultaneously, each trying to shout above the other. Both called for hymns, and the congregation sang two -- each side trying to drown out the other. Then the groups began shouting at each other. Bibles were raised in anger. The Sunday morning service turned into a bedlam. Through it all, the two preachers continued trying to outshout each other with their sermons. "Eventually a deacon called a policeman. Two came in and began shouting for the congregation to be quiet. They advised the forty persons in the church to return home. The rivals filed out, still arguing. Last night, one of the groups called a let's-be-friends' meeting. It broke up in an argument." The item was headlined, "Hallelujah! Two Jacks in One Pulpit." It could have been bannered, "Two Factions in One fellowship." This is not an amusing, but a saddening story for us. How saddened the heart of God was through this unfortunate division of the church! The world may laugh at it. But we can’t laugh at that church if we feel the very heart of God for it. The world wants Christ’s churches to be like it. But Christ prayed His churches would become one in Him as the Father and the Son are one. What do we need to do for the unity of the church? In our preaching, we should not make any distinction among people, depending on race, age, culture, or nationality. If we do, we are against the nature of the message of Christ. Christ is Peace. Christ is the Reconciler between God and sinners. This is our message. We are to show the world what the blessings of true peace and oneness are through the gospel of peace and our unity. Our unity reveals God's wisdom, power, and glory to the world.
