생각하는 신자들(Thinking Believers)

한국에는 이단들을 추종하는 사람들이 많습니다. 교회 중직자들이 이단에 빠지는 경우가 흔합니다. 왜 이렇게 되었을까요? 말씀 교육의 부재가 주된 이유입니다. 또한 말씀으로 생각하는 기술이 부재하기 때문입니다. 요즘은 생각하는 기술이 잊혀진 시대 같습니다. 사람들은 논리적이고 비판적인 사고를 싫어합니다. 보고 듣는 것을 아무 생각 없이  수용합니다. 남이 대신 생각해 준 것을 받아드리기에 익숙합니다. 남의 생각에 종속되는 것입니다. 기독교인들도 예외는 아닙니다. 무엇을 믿고 왜 믿는지에 대하여 생각하지 않습니다. 그래서 쉽게 이단의 유혹에 넘어가는 것입니다. 신자들은 말씀을 중심으로 생각하는 기술을 배워야 이단의 손길을 뿌리칠 수 있습니다. 말씀 묵상에 시간을 투자하고 훈련을 받아야 합니다. 말씀 묵상 훈련은 피나는 노력이 필요합니다. 많은 이들이 도전하지만 종종 중도에 포기하는 이유이기도 합니다. 말씀 묵상은 사고의 훈련입니다. 요즘 사람들은 독서보단 인터넷에서 눈요기를 사냥하며 시간을 보냅니다. 성경을 읽지 않는 이유도 마찬가지 입니다. 그래서 스스로 생각하길 싫어하는 신자들은 말씀에 대한 분별력이 없습니다. 이단이 얼마나 비성경적인지를 식별할 수 없습니다. 이들은 성경적 비판 능력이 없습니다. 성경이 말하는 진리가 무엇인지 무지한 것입니다. 성경적 세계관이 없는 것입니다. 우리는 생각하는 신자가 되어야 합니다. 보고 듣고 읽는 것을 비판할 수 있는 사고의 능력을 길러야 합니다. 아이들은 생각하기 전에 행동하여 많은 실수를 범합니다. 아이들은 느끼는 대로 행동합니다. 단 음식이 있으면 입에 달기에 그냥 먹어 버립니다. 그것이 건강에 좋은지 아닌지를 생각하지 않습니다. 생각없이 즉흥적으로 행동합니다. 비판적인 사고를 가진 다는 것은 성숙한 자가 된다는 것입니다. 한쪽으로 치우친 사고가 아니라 종합적인 사고를 하는 것입니다. 성경을 읽을 때도 생각하며 읽어야 합니다. 질문을 던지며 답을 구해야 합니다. 도움이 되는 도서를 찾아 공부해야 합니다. 읽고 기도하고 생각하고 질문하며 답하는 습관이 필요합니다. 성경적 세계관, 비판적인 사고로 다져진 마음은 견고하고 건강합니다. 어떤 이단에도 속아 넘어가지 않습니다. 오리려 이단의 거짓된 가르침을 간파하고 비판할 수 있습니다. 이러한 비판 능력은 몇몇 소수의 전유물이 아니라 우리 모두의 소유가 되어야 합니다. 믿음을 수호하는 데는 바르게 사고하는 능력이  필수적입니다. 

There are a great number of followers of cults and occults in Korea. Church officeholders often fall into their traps, too. Why is it so? It is due to lack of doctrinal education. Also, it is attributable to lack of critical thinking based on the Bible. Apparently, the art of thinking is lost today. People don’t like to think. They don’t like logical, critical thinking. They uncritically adopt what they see and hear. They are used to accepting what others have thought through on their behalf. They are subject to the thoughts of others. Christians are no exception. They don’t think about what they believe and why they believe. So, they easily fall prey to the temptations of heresies. Believers should learn to think biblically so that they can push off the hands of cultists. They invest time to receiving a training of meditating on God’s Word. Such training takes relentless efforts. It is because many, who have tried it, often give up on the way. Word meditation is a training of the mind. These days, people would spend time hunting for something delightful to the eye on the internet rather than reading. For the same reason, they don’t read the Bible. So, Christians who don’t like to think for themselves lack biblical discernment. They can’t tell how unbiblical heresies are. They have no biblical, critical thinking skills. They are ignorant of biblical truth. They have no biblical worldview. We must be “thinking believers.” We must develop a critical thinking skill to examine what we see, hear, and read. Kids act before they think. So, they make many mistakes. They follow their feelings. They take sweet food because it is sweet to their mouths. They think whether it is good for health or not. They act impulsively without thinking. Being a critical thinker implies being a mature person. Critical thinkers are not one-sided. They can exercise comprehensive thinking skills. We must think while reading the Bible. We must ask questions and seek to answer them. We must look for helpful books and study them. We must make a habit of reading, praying, thinking, and questioning. When we train our minds with biblical worldview and critical thinking, we are stable and healthy. We won’t be deceived by cultists. We can detect their false teachings and criticize them. Such critical thinking shouldn’t be of only a few but of all of us. To defend our faith, we must learn to think rightly.
