우연이 아닙니다(It is not by chance!)

우리의 구원은 우연이 아니라 하나님의 택정에 의한 것입니다. 어떤 사람들은 어느 날 예수님을 믿고 구원을 받게 되었다고 막연하게 생각합니다. 자신들이 믿기로 결정했기 때문에 하나님이 그들을 구원해 주신 것이라고 주장합니다. 이들에게 구원은 자신들이 선택한 결과인 것입니다. 하지만 성경은 구원이 전적으로 하나님께 속한 것으로 말씀합니다. 구원은 어떤 개인의 뜻, 선택에 의해서 결정된 것이 아닙니다. 구원은 하나님의 뜻과 선택을 따라 은혜로 주어진 것입니다. 구원은 결코 우리의 어떤 선행 때문에 주어진 것이 아닙니다. 하나님은 세상을 창조하기에 앞서 우리의 구원을 계획하셨습니다. 이것은 우리의 이성을 초월하는 신비입니다. 어떻게 내가 태어나기도 전에 나의 구원이 결정될 수 있다는 말인가? 나의 의지와는 상관 없이 나의 영원한 운명이 결정될 수 있을까? 우리는 이런 문제를 모두 이해할 수는 없습니다. 그럼에도 우리는 구원을 확신하며 기쁨으로 하나님을 찬양합니다. 구원은 우리의 선택이전에 하나님의 선택의 결과입니다. 그렇기에 우리의 구원은 하나님의 주권적 결정에 따른 것입니다. 하나님의 주권적 결정은 어떤 변덕스런 신의 결정과는 다릅니다. 하나님의 능력과 지혜는 무한합니다. 그렇기에 하나님의 주권적 택정은 실수할 수도, 실패할 수도 없습니다. 하나님은 그의 무한한 지혜로 우리의 구원을 계획하시고 실행하셨습니다. 그 계획 속에는 우리가 영원 전부터 포함되어 있었습니다. 그 계획은 그 아들 예수 그리스도를 그의 때에 보내시는 것이었습니다. 그것은 우리를 그리스도 안에 포함시켜 그와 연합되게 하는 것이었습니다. 이것은 또다른 신비입니다. 이성의 영역을 초월하지만 사실입니다. 하나님의 정하신 때가 되어 그리스도는 육신의 몸을 입고 이 땅에 오셨습니다. 그리고 하나님의 법을 완전하게 지키고 자신의 몸을 하나님을 속죄 제물로 바쳐서 우리의 죄 값을 지불하시고 용서하셨습니다. 우리는 하나님의 택함을 받았기에 그리스도의 복음을 듣고 예수님을 구주로 영접하였습니다. 그렇기에 우리의 믿음은 결코 구원의 근거가 될 수 없습니다. 왜냐하면 믿음은 하나님의 선물이기 때문입니다. 우리는 오직 예수님의 십자가 죽음과 부활의 역사로 구원을 받게 된 것입니다. 우리가 구원 받기 위해서 한 일은 절대로 구원 받은 공로가 될 수 없습니다. 그렇기에 우리는 전적인 하나님의 은혜로 구원 받은 것입니다. 우리의 구원은 절대로 우연이 아니라 하나님의 은혜로운 사랑의 선택이 맺은 열매입니다. 이 사랑을 맛보며 사는 사람은 전심으로 하나님을 찬양하며 사랑합니다. 우리의 구원은 사람이 아닌 하나님의 걸작입니다. 그러므로 참된 신자는 자기가 아닌 하나님을 자랑합니다. 

Our salvation is not by chance but by God's election. Some people vaguely believe that one day they came to believe in Jesus and were saved. They claim that God saved them because they chose to believe. For them, salvation is the result of their own choices. But the Bible tells us that salvation belongs entirely to God. Salvation is not determined by any individual's will or choice. Salvation is given by grace according to God's will and choice. Salvation is not given due to any of our good works. God planned and designed our salvation before the creation of the world. This is some kind of mystery that is difficult for our minds to comprehend. How can our salvation be determined before we are born? Could my eternal destiny be determined regardless of my will? We can't fully understand all of this. Nonetheless, we have the assurance of salvation and praise God with gladness. Our salvation was a result of God’s choice that preceded our choice. So, it is a sovereign decision of God. God's sovereign decision is not like the decision of a capricious deity. God's power and wisdom are infinite. So, there can’t be any mistake or failure in His sovereign election. According to His infinite wisdom, God planned our salvation and carried out His plan. We were eternally included in that plan. In that plan was the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, in His time. That plan was to include us in Christ and make us united with Him. This is another mystery. It is beyond the realm of reason as we understand it, but it is true. At God's appointed time, Christ came to earth in a physical body. And He perfectly kept God's laws and offered His body as a sin offering to God to pay for and forgive our sins. Because we are God's elect, we heard the gospel of Christ and accepted Jesus as our Savior. Our faith can never be the basis of our salvation, because faith is a gift of God. We are saved solely by the work of Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. Nothing we do to earn our salvation can ever merit our salvation, so we are saved by God's grace alone. Our salvation is never an accident, but a fruit of God's gracious loving choice. Those who live while tasting it wholeheartedly praise and love God. Our salvation is a masterpiece of God, not of man. So, true believers glory in God, not in themselves.
