그리스도 안에 있는 참된 부(True Riches in Christ)

오늘날 너무도 많은 크리스천들이 그리스도 안에 있는 자신들의 부요함이 무엇인지 모릅니다. 그것이 무엇인지 모르기에 매일 생활에서 그것을 누림이 없습니다. 그래서 영적으로 궁핍함에 빠져 살아갑니다. 바울은 이들과는 달리 그것이 무엇인지도 잘 알았고 그것을 온전히 누렸습니다. 더욱이 그는 그것을 이방인들에게 전하여 그들로 그리스도 안에 있는 부요함에 참여하게 하였습니다. 바울은 이렇게 서술합니다: “모든 성도 중에 지극히 작은 자보다 더 작은 나에게 이 은혜를 주신 것은 측량할 수 없는 그리스도의 풍성을 이방인에게 전하게 하시고”(엡 3:8). 그리스도의 풍성은 그리스도 안에 있는 구원의 복을 지칭합니다. 그것은 하나님의 선택과 예정, 그리스도의 구속과 용서, 성령의 인치심과 보증을 포함합니다. 이러한 부요함의 영적, 실생활적 의미들을 이해하며 하나님의 영광과 우리의 영적 성장을 위하여 그것들을 누려야 합니다. 우리가 이것들을 알면 알수록 더욱 더 누릴 수 있습니다. 그렇기에 우리는 그것들을 늘 묵상하며 우리의 마음과 삶에 적용해야 합니다. 실로 하나님은 우리에게 그리스도 안에서 모든 신령한 복으로 복 주셨습니다. 하나님이 구원의 선물을 주신 목적은 그분의 비할 데 없는 은혜를 인하여 하나님을 찬양하는 것입니다. 구원의 선물을 즐거움과 감사함으로 누리는 것은 하나님이 우리에게 원하시는 것입니다. 구원의 선물 상자를 열어 그 안에 무엇이 있는가를 보고 즐거워하는 것은 매우 당연한 일입니다. 그것을 열지도 감사치도 않는다면 이는 하나님을 모욕하는 것과 같습니다. 그렇지만 구원을 인하여 하나님을 찬양한다면 이는 하나님 앞에서 기쁨으로 춤추며 감사함으로 그를 껴안는 것과 같습니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 참된 풍성은 우리에게 동기와 힘을 부여하고 우리를 다스리는 것입니다. 그리스도의 풍성이 우리의 삶을 북돋아주게 할 때 우리는 그리스도의 사랑과 진리로 다스림을 받을 것입니다. 그리스도 안에서 구원의 복을 즐거워하는 것은 그리스도를 즐거워하는 것이어야 합니다. 슬프게도 우리는 종종 주신 분, 곧 하나님을 잊고 그분의 선물에만 정신이 팔리기도 합니다. 우리는 하나님의 선물들로 우리의 마음이 그에게 달려가게 해야 합니다. 하나님과 함께 사는 삶이 구원의 목적입니다. 우리가 그리스도의 구원의 은택들을 누리지 않는다는 것은 우리가 그리스도와 연합하여 살지 않는 다는 것을 보여주는 것일 수도 있습니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 구원의 선물은 하나님의 영광스러운 은혜를 찬양하도록 우리가 누려야 할 가장 큰 부입니다. 그러므로 구원 받은 복을 인하여 매일 하나님께 감사하며 찬양하는 것은 분명 그 큰 부를 누리는 길입니다. 

Too many Christians today do not know what their true riches in Christ are. Because they do not know what they are, they can’t enjoy them in their everyday life. So, they live in spiritual poverty. Unlike them, Paul knew it well and enjoyed it fully. Furthermore, he spread it to the Gentiles so that they might participate in true riches in Christ. Paul defines the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel of salvation in Christ. He put it this way: “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Eph. 3:8). The riches of Christ refer to the blessing of salvation in Christ, which includes God’s election and predestination, Christ’s redemption and forgiveness, and the sealing and earnest of the Holy Spirit. Appreciating the spiritual and practical implications of these riches, we must enjoy them for the glory of God and our spiritual growth. The more we know them, the more we can enjoy them. So, we must meditate on them all the time and apply them to our hearts and lives. Surely, God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The purpose God has given us the gift of salvation is we praise God for God’s matchless grace. To enjoy it with joyfulness and gratefulness is what God wants us to do. It is quite natural for us to open the gift box of salvation and see what’s in it so that we can rejoice in it. If we do not even open it or appreciate it, it is like an affront to God. However, if we praise God for it, it is like dancing with gladness in the presence of God and hugging God with gratefulness. God’s true riches in Christ are a matter of what motivates, strengthens, and controls. When we allow the riches of Christ to energize our lives, we will be governed by Christ’s love and truth. Our enjoyment of the blessing of salvation in Christ must be equal to our enjoyment of Christ. Sadly, we often forget the Giver while being engrossed only in His gifts. We should let God’s gifts drive our hearts to God. Living with God is a purpose of salvation. Our failure to enjoy the benefits of the salvation of Christ may indicate our failure to live in union with Christ. The gift of salvation in Christ is the greatest wealth we have to enjoy for the praise of God’s glorious grace. So, giving thanks and praises unto God daily for the blessing of salvation is certainly a way to enjoy that greatest wealth.
