부활의 영광을 찬양하는 기쁨(The Joy of praising the glory of the resurrection)

기독교는 그리스도의 죽음과 부활이란 두 기둥 위에 서 있습니다. 이 중 하나가 무너지면 기독교라는 거대한 건물은 무너지고 말 것입니다. 부활의 복음은 이렇게 중요하며 기독교의 핵심이라 할 수 있습니다. 이러한 점을 안다고 매일 부활의 복음을 따라 사는 것은 아닙니다. 예수님은 여러차례 열 두 제자들에게 자기의 죽음과 부활에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다. 하지만 그 말씀을 기억하며 그분의 죽음과 부활을 기다린 사람은 없습니다. 가룟 유다는 예수님을 배반까지 하였습니다. 만약 그가 예수님의 죽음이 자신의 죄를 대속하기 위한 것이었으며 다시 사실 것을 믿었더라면 그는 은 삼십에 예수님을 팔지는 않았을 것입니다. 그는 “죽으면 모든 것이 끝이다”라고 믿었던 것입니다. 오늘날 많은 사람들도 죽음으로 모든 것이 끝난다고 생각합니다. 하지만 예수님의 부활은 죽음이 끝이 아님을 증거해 줍니다. 그리스도 안에 새로운 세계, 새로운 생명, 영원한 나라이 있음을 증거해 줍니다. 오늘 우리가 가장 필요로 하는 분은 예수 그리스도입니다. 하지만 예수님은 외면을 받고 있습니다. 예수님의 탄생, 죽음, 부활을 기리는 절기들은 상업화되고 그 참된 의미를 상실하였습니다. 죄인들을 위하여 죽으시고 부활하신 예수님의 희생, 사랑, 영광을 온 마음으로 찬양하는 자들은 소수일 뿐입니다. 예수님은 사망 권세를 깨뜨리시고 다시 살아나셨습니다. 그분은 부활의 첫열매가 되셨습니다. 그분은 지금도 살아 계십니다. 사도들은 처음에 이런 소식을 듣고도 믿지 않았습니다. 예수님께서 친히 이들에게 나타나셨을 때에도 의심하는 자도 있었었습니다. 사도들은 예수님이 앞서 말씀하신 그분의 죽음과 부활의 복음을 믿었어야 했습니다. 하지만 이들은 두려움과 절망에 숨어 있었습니다. “모든 것이 끝났다”는 허무함에 사로 잡혀 있었던 것입니다. 오늘도 죄와 사망은 살아 있는 주 예수 그리스도를 보지 못하게 합니다. 그분을 보려면 하나님의 은혜로 믿음의 눈이 떠져야 합니다. 사도들이 전해준 말씀을 통하여 예수님을 만나야 합니다. 무덤에서 예수님을 찾지 말고 부활하신 그리스도를 믿음으로 바라 보아야 합니다. 사도들은 부활하신 그리스도를 본 후에 완전히 달라졌습니다. 사자처럼 용감하게 그리스도의 죽음과 부활 복음을 선포하였습니다. 사망과 같은 암담한 현실을 보지 말고 부활하신 주님을 보아야 합니다. 예수 부활의 영광을 찬양하며 그 기쁨의 능력으로 살아야 합니다. 죄, 세상, 사탄은 우리를 절망과 두려움의 감옥을 가두려 합니다. 우리는 예수님이 부활하심으로 절망, 두려움, 죄, 사망 권세를 깨뜨리신 것을 믿고 감사해야 합니다. 우리는 더 이상 죄와 사망의 세력에 갇혀 있지 않습니다. 우리는 용서 받고 구속 받았습니다. 죽음의 공포가 우리를 죽이려 할 때 예수님의 부활을 외치며 우리 몸의 부활을 소망해야 합니다. 예수님의 부활은 우리 부활의 보증이며 죽음에 이르는 절망을 이기는 소망입니다. 부활의 영광을 찬양하고 기뻐하는 것은 죽음에 대한 두려움을 극복하는 길입니다. 

Christianity stands on the two pillars of Christ’s death and resurrection. The whole edifice of Christianity will collapse if one of the pillars falls. The gospel of Christ’s resurrection is so important that it constitutes the core of Christianity. Knowing this point doesn’t necessarily mean that we live daily according to the gospel of Christ’s resurrection. On several occasions, Jesus foretold His twelve disciples about His death and resurrection. But none of them remembered His words and waited for His death and resurrection. Judas Iscariot even betrayed Jesus. If he had believed in the atoning death and glorious resurrection of Jesus for his sake, Judas would not have sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. He believed everything would be over at death. Today, many people think everything will be over at death. But the resurrection of Jesus is evidence that death is not the end of one’s existence. It tells us there is a new world, a new life, and an everlasting kingdom in Christ. Today, we need Jesus Christ more than anything else. But people turn their faces away from Jesus. The holidays that celebrate the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus have been commercialized and lost their true meanings. Only a few truly wholeheartedly praise Jesus for His sacrifice, love, and glory demonstrated in His death and resurrection for sinners. Jesus broke the power of death and rose again from the dead. He became the firstfruits of the resurrection. He is still alive. At first, the apostles didn’t believe the news of His resurrection. Some of them still doubted it even when Jesus appeared to them in person. They should have trusted the gospel of Jesus’ death and resurrection which Jesus had told them beforehand. But they hid due to their fear and despair. They were captivated by a sense of nothingness because they believed everything was over. Today, sin and death blind us so that we can’t see Jesus. To see Him, we must get our eyes of faith opened by God’s grace. We must encounter Jesus through the words of the apostle delivered to us. Instead of looking for Jesus in a tomb, we must behold the risen Christ by faith. The apostles were wholly transformed after they saw the risen Christ. They were so brave like lions that they proclaimed the gospel of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Rather than beholding our death-like, gloomy realities, we must behold the risen Lord. We must live by the strength of the joy of the Lord as we praise the glory of His resurrection. Sin, the world, and Satan try to imprison us in a pit of despair and dread. We must be grateful for the news that Jesus broke the power of hopelessness, fear, sin, and death by His resurrection. We are no longer bound by the power of sin and death. We are forgiven and redeemed. When the terror of death tries to kill us, we must declare Jesus’ resurrection and hope for our bodily resurrection. Jesus’ resurrection is a guarantee of our resurrection, giving us hope against despair unto death. Exalting the glory of the resurrection and exulting in it is a way to overcome a fear of death.
