어떤 꿈을 꾸시나요?(What are you dreaming of?)

새해가 되면 새로운 결심, 소원, 꿈에 대하여 이야기 합니다. 교회에서도 새해에 대한 꿈, 비전 등에 대한 설교가 많습니다. 아마도 여기서 말하는 꿈은 새로운 소원, 도전, 계획, 혹은 이루고 싶은 일을 뜻할 것입니다. 예를 들면, 전도, 성경 읽기, 가족 구원, 특수 사역, 등을 이야기 합니다. 저도 올해 이루고 싶은 소원들이 있습니다. 그것들이 나의 꿈이고 비전인가 생각해 보았습니다. 아리송했습니다. 저는 과거에도 교회에서 꿈, 비전에 대한 말씀을 들을 때 마음 한구석에서 불편함을 느꼈습니다. 사실 별다른 꿈이 없었기 때문입니다. 그래서 기도도 해 보았습니다. “주님, 저에게 꿈과 비전을 주세요.” “저의 미래의 비전은 무엇입니까?” 아무런 응답도 얻지 못해 답답하였습니다. 지금도 마찬가지입니다. 어쩌면 사람들이 꿈, 비전이란 단어를 다른 뜻으로 사용하여서 그런 것이 아닌가 생각하기도 합니다. 사실 저에겐 꿈이나 비전보단 소원이 있습니다. 그것은 하나님의 뜻대로 사는 것, 하나님의 복음을 전파하는 것, 하나님의 나라를 확장하는 것, 하나님과 이웃을 사랑하는 것, 말씀을 연구하고 가르치며 행하는 것입니다. 한마디로 하나님이 원하시는 것을 행하는 것입니다. 제가 원하는 것은 성경에 나온 하나님의 보편적인 뜻입니다. 저에게만 주신 어떤 특별한 꿈이나 비전이 아닙니다. 저는 아직도 그런 것을 받아 보지 못했습니다. 전에 교회를 개척하고 싶은 소원이 있었습니다. 그래서 기도했습니다. 하나님은 그 소원을 이루어졌습니다. 그래서 감사했습니다. 올해도 어떤 꿈과 비전을 꾸어야 하나 질문을 해 보았습니다. 전처럼 답을 얻지 못했습니다. 그러나 다음과 같은 질문을 했습니다: 사역의 어떤 부분을 집중해야 할까? 어떤 성경의 책에서 설교를 할까? 교우들에게 어떤 주제로 말씀을 전할까? 등등 목회에 관한 일반적인 질문이었습니다. 저는 목회자로서 우리 교우들 모두 영적으로나 육적으로나 건강하고 하나님 말씀의 빛 가운데 행하길 원하며 기도합니다. 하나님의 뜻이 우리 교우들의 개인, 가정, 사회 생활에서 이루어지길 기도합니다. 이것이 저의 소원이며 꿈입니다. 그래서 기도합니다. 또한 우리 교회가 양적으로나 영적으로나 성장하길 원하여 기도하고 있습니다. 이것이 꿈인지는 모르지만 저의 소원입니다. 하나님의 뜻이라면 그것이 이루어지길 기도하고 있습니다. 저의 개인 생활, 가정 생활, 교회 생활에서 하나님이 원하시는 뜻이 이루어지길 간절히 소원합니다. 이 소원이 저의 꿈이며 기도입니다. 매해 변치 않는 저의 비전입니다. 저의 하는 모든 일들을 통하여 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지고, 그의 나라가 확장되며, 하나님이 영광을 받으시는 것이 저의 꿈입니다. 올해 여러분에게도 하나님의 뜻, 하나님의 나라, 하나님의 영광, 곧 하나님이 비전이 되길 기원합니다.

At the turn of the new year, we often talk about the new year’s resolutions, wishes, and dreams. Many pastors preach on new year’s dreams and visions in their churches. " dreams " probably refer to new wishes, challenges, projects, or things to accomplish. For example, they are witnessing, Bible reading, family salvation, special ministries, and the like. I have some wishes to fulfill this year. I have thought about if they are my dreams and visions or not. I was not sure about it. In the past, I felt somewhat uncomfortable when I heard about dreams or visions in the church. It was because I didn’t have specific dreams or visions. So, I prayed about it. “Lord, grant me any dream or vision.” “What is my vision for the future?” Having no answer about it from God, I felt a little depressed. It remains this way even now. I thought it might be people were probably using the words “dream” and “vision” in different senses. I have wishes rather than dreams or visions. I want to live according to the will of God, preach the gospel of God, expand the kingdom of God, love God and my neighbors, and study the word to teach and practice it. In short, I want to do what God wants. I have got my wishes from the Bible, which are consistent with God’s universal will. They are not specific dreams or visions given only to me. I haven’t received any exclusive dream or vision for myself yet. I had the desire to plant a church years ago. So, I prayed for it. God brought my wish to fulfillment. So, I thanked him for it. I have asked God about what dream or vision I should have for this year. I got no answer as before. But I have asked the following questions: “Which parts of the ministries should I focus on? From which books in the Bible shall I preach? Which topics shall I deliver to my fellow believers in the church? These are my general questions about pastoring. As a pastor, I wish and pray for my fellow believers to stay healthy both spiritually and physically and walk in the light of God’s word. I pray the will of God would be fulfilled in their individual lives, families, and communities. This is my wish and dream. So, I pray. Also, I want our church to grow in number and spirit. So, I have been praying for it. Even if I am not sure whether this is my dream or not, I know that is my wish. If it is the Lord’s will, I am praying God will bring it to pass. I desperately want the will of God to be fulfilled in my personal life, family life, and church life as well. This wish is my dream and prayer. It has been my unchangeable vision every year. My dream is to get the will of God done, expand the kingdom of God, and bring glory to God through all I do. May the will of God, the kingdom of God, and the glory of God, that is, God Himself, be your vision this year, too!
