우리 영아부(Our Nursery)

우리 영아부 예배가 지난 해 말에 시작되었습니다. 영아부 방에서 4명의 아기들과 부모님들이 스크린을 보며 예배를 드리고 있었습니다. 그러던 차에 권윤정 사모님이 영아들을 위하여 따로 예배를 드리기 시작하였습니다. 함께 찬양을 부릅니다. 창세기 말씀을 배웁니다. 만들기 작업도 합니다. 하나님께 기도함을 배웁니다. 아기들은 물을 빨아들이는 스폰지처럼 교회에서 보고 듣는 것을 흡수합니다. 이렇게 아이들은 예배를 배우며 하나님을 경험합니다. 정말 우리 영아부는 소중한 사역입니다. 아기들을 돌보고 가르치는 것은 가치 있는 사역이지만 동시에 사랑과 인내를 요구하는 사역입니다. 아기들이 겉으로 보기엔 아무것도 모르는 것 같지만 한 인격체로 보고 듣고 행동합니다. 이들을 가르치는 것은 특권입니다. 이들의 삶에 평생 남게 될 가르침을 주기 때문입니다. 어려서 배운 것은 평생 이들의 가슴에 남아 있습니다. 그래서 이스라엘 백성은 그 언약의 자손들을 부지런히 말씀을 가르치도록 명령을 받았습니다. 언약의 가정에서 태어난 귀한 자녀들을 마땅히 행할 길로 가르쳐야 했습니다. 이렇게 어릴 때부터 신앙은 이스라엘 민족의 문화요 근성이 되었습니다. 유아 때부터 가르친 신앙 교육은 아이들의 미래에 신앙의 요체가 됩니다. 바울 사도는 믿는 부모들에게 다음과 같이 권면합니다: “또 아비들아 너희 자녀를 노엽게 하지 말고 오직 주의 교양과 훈계로 양육하라”(엡 6:4). 신앙 교육은 각 가정과 교회 유아실에서 연계되어 진행되어야 합니다. 기도, 찬양, 말씀, 예배, 섬김, 사랑 등을 아이들에게 가르쳐야 합니다. 아이들이 신체가 자라면서 말씀의 지혜에서도 자라가도록 도와주어야 합니다. 예수님을 개인의 구주로 영접하도록 이끌어 주어야 합니다. 그분을 섬기며 사랑하도록 본을 보여주어야 합니다. 이런 중차대한 사역은 헌신자들이 필요합니다. 피아노 반주로 섬길 분이 필요합니다. 찬양을 인도할 분도 필요합니다. 부모님들이 예배하도록 아이들을 돌보아줄 분들도 필요합니다. 함께 기도하며 사랑으로 섬길 분들이 필요합니다. 여러분의 섬김은 한 인격체의 신앙 교육과 성장에 가장 의미 있는 투자가 될 것입니다. 영아부에서 섬기지 못할지라도 우리의 소중한 아기들을 위하여 기도해 주세요. 아이들의 해맑은 웃음을 생각하며 주님의 이름으로 축복해 주세요. 여러분의 기도는 아이들의 성장에 소중한 밑거름이 될 것입니다.    

Our nursery began its own worship at the end of last year. Our four infants and their parents used to meet at nursery room to worship while watching our service on the TV screen. But Mrs. Yun-jeong Kwon started nursery worship for our infants and their parents. They sing hymns together. They learn Bible lessons from the book of Genesis. They make Bible craft. They learn to pray. Or kids absorb what they see and hear at church as the sponge absorbs water. In this way, they learn to worship and experience God. Indeed, our nursery is an important ministry. Caring and teaching our children are a worthwhile ministry. At the same time, they require love and patience of us. Though they may seem to know nothing on the surface, yet they are persons who see, hear, and act. Teaching them is a privilege. It is because lessons given to them shall remain with them throughout their lives. Once they learn during their early years, they will remember them in their hearts. For this reason, the people of Israel were ordered to teach their children the word of God diligently. They were to teach their covenant children in the way they should go. From their childhood, religious education formed the culture and fundamentals of Israel. Religious education during their infancy served as the key to their further develop of faith in the future. The apostle Paul exhorts parents this way: “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). Children’s spiritual education should take place both at home and church in combination. We must teach our children prayer, praise, word, worship, service, love, and the like. We must help them grow in stature and wisdom. We must lead them to accept Christ as their personal Savior. We must set an example of serving and loving the Lord before them. Such an enormously significant ministry needs dedicated people. We need a piano accompanist. We need a song leader. We need babysitters so that parents can attend adult worship service. We need those who pray together and serve in love for our nursery. Your service will turn out to be a meaningful investment for spiritual education and growth of children. Even though you may not be able to serve for our nursery, please pray for our precious kids. Thinking of their shining smiles, please bless each of them in the name of the Lord. Your prayer will be greatly utilized for their growth.
