영혼을 깨우는 소리(Sounds that awaken the soul)

세상에는 많은 소리가 있습니다. 바람, 곤충, 새, 각종 동물 등에서 나오는 자연의 소리가 있습니다. 아침을 깨우는 닭의 울음, 경적을 울리는 차 소리, 공장을 돌아가는 기계 소리 등이 있습니다. 또한 익숙하지만 잊고 사는 에어컨, 냉장고, 컴퓨터, 세탁기, 식기 세척기, 전자레인지 소리가 있습니다. 운전하며 듣는 음악, 뉴스, 설교, 찬양 소리가 있습니다. 그리고 미디어를 통해 접하는 세상의 소리, 곧, 정치인, 정치 평론가, 연예인, Youtuber들의 소리가 있습니다. 우리는 소리의 홍수 속에 살고 있습니다. 참과 거짓을 분별하기 어려운 시대입니다. 세상의 잡다한 소리들은 우리의 영혼의 소리를 잠재웁니다. 불안과 염려를 조장하여 우리를 조정하려는 소음들이 정말로 많습니다. 그럼에도 우리는 이러한 사실을 인식하지 못한 채 삶의 바쁨에 떠밀려 살아갑니다. 이러한 현실에서 우리의 영혼을 깨우는 소리가 있을까? 우리의 영혼을 정화시키며 치유하는 유익한 소리는 어떤 것일까? 그것은 하나님의 사랑의 소리, 곧 예수 그리스도의 복된 소식입니다. 사람은 하나님이 만든 최고의 피조물입니다. 사람은 하나님의 형상, 곧 그의 대리자입니다. 그렇기에 사람은 하나님의 음성을 듣고 응답하며 살아가도록 지음을 받았습니다. 그런데 죄는 사람의 마음을 완고케 하여 하나님을 듣지 못하게 합니다. 사람은 이러한 사실을 깨닫지 못하고 세상의 소리에만 정신이 팔려 있습니다. 사람이 하나님의 창조 목적을 따라 그분과의 교제를 회복하는 길은 오직 예수 그리스도 밖에는 없습니다. 하나님의 소리는 생명을 주는 소리입니다. 세례 요한은 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리였습니다. 사람들로 회개하고 예수님을 영접할 수 있도록 준비시키는 소리였습니다. 우리는 세상의 소음이 아닌 그리스도의 복된 소식에 귀를 기울여야 합니다. 우리는 매 순간 그리스도의 죽음과 부활의 복음을 들어야 합니다. 세상의 소음에 귀가 먼 우리 스스로에게 이 복음의 진리를 외쳐야 합니다. 그래서 우리가 이 진리의 소리를 통해서 세상의 거짓된 소리를 분별하고 복음의 진리로 우리의 영혼을 무장해야 합니다. 그렇지 않으면 우리는 죄, 우울, 절망, 불안, 염려의 공격에 침몰할 것입니다. 우리의 영혼을 깨우는 복음의 소리에 믿음으로 반응하면 하나님을 들을 수 있습니다. 그러면 자연 세계를 통한 하나님의 지혜와 능력과 사랑의 소리를 들을 수 있습니다. 찬양 소리를 들으며 영혼의 평안을 누릴 수 있습니다. 세상의 소음들을 향하여 마음의 스위치를 꺼야 합니다. 그리고 자연, 성경, 성령을 통한 하나님의 세미한 음성에 마음의 귀를 활짝 여는 은혜가 필요합니다. 영혼을 깨우는 하나님의 소리에 영혼의 주파수를 맞추는 지혜가 가득하길 기원합니다.      

There are many sounds in the world. There are the sounds of nature, such as wind, insects, birds, and animals. There are the sounds of chickens crowing to wake you up in the morning, cars honking their horns, and machinery running in factories. There are the sounds of air conditioners, refrigerators, computers, washing machines, dishwashers, and microwaves that you're used to but forget about. There's the music we listen to while driving, the news, sermons, and praise songs. And then there are the sounds of the world we hear through the media: politicians, political commentators, entertainers, and Youtubers. We live in a world of sound. It's hard to discern what's true and what's not. The chatter of the world drowns out the sound of our souls. There is so much noise out there that tries to tune us out by creating anxiety and worry, and yet we are unaware of this and get swept up in the busyness of life. In this reality, are there sounds that awaken our souls? What is the beneficial sound that purifies and heals our souls? It is the sound of God's love-the good news of Jesus Christ. Man is God's best creation. Man is God's image, His representative. As such, man was created to hear God's voice, to respond to it, and to live by it. But sin has hardened man's heart, preventing him from hearing God. Instead of realizing this, man is preoccupied with the sounds of the world. There is only one way for man to regain fellowship with God according to His creation purpose, and that is through Jesus Christ. The sound of God is a life-giving sound. John the Baptist was the voice of one crying out in the wilderness. It was a sound that prepared people to repent and receive Jesus. We need to tune out the noise of the world and listen to the good news of Christ. We need to hear the good news of Christ's death and resurrection every moment of every day. We need to shout this gospel truth to ourselves when we become deaf due to the noise of the world, so that we can discern the lies of the world through the sound of this truth and arm our souls with the truth of the gospel. Otherwise, we will sink under the onslaught of sin, depression, despair, anxiety, and worry. When we respond in faith to the sound of the gospel that awakens our souls, we can hear God. We can then hear the sounds of God's wisdom, power, and love through the natural world. We can hear the sounds of praise and enjoy the peace of our souls. You need to flip the switch on your mind to the noise of the world, and you need grace to open your ears to the still small voice of God through nature, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit. May you be filled with the wisdom to tune your soul's frequency to the sound of God awakening your soul.
