교우소식들(News on our fellow believers-Aug, 2023)

벌써 7월이 다 가고 곧 8월이 시작합니다. 세월의 빠름을 매일 직감합니다. 올 여름은 매우 무덥습니다. 그래도 8월에는 더위가 한풀 꺾일 것이라 기대해 봅니다. 곧 모두가 좋아하는 가을이 올 것이라 생각하는 마음이 한결 편안합니다. 이렇게 4계절의 변화를 느낄 수 있는 곳에 살게 된 것을 생각할 때마다 감사한 마음이 듭니다. 그 동안 교우 소식을 전해드리지 못했습니다. 물론 매 주 주보에 간간히 교우들의 소식을 전하였습니다. 오늘은 목회칼럼을 통해서 교우들 소식을 요약해 보려 합니다. 먼저 세 학생 김건우, 주요한, 홍은택 형제님이 군 복무를 시작하였습니다. 입대한 날은 틀리지만 올 여름에 모두 군 복무를 시작하였습니다. 앞으로 군 복무를 건강하게 잘 마치고 복학하여 학업을 임할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 변성민 형제님은 지난 5월에 졸업하고 직업을 찾고 있었습니다. 수백 통의 이력서를 제출하였습니다. 하나님이 기도 응답을 주셔서 지난 월요일부터 Legacy Early College Elementary School에서 일하게 되었습니다. 성민이가 그린빌에 남게 되어 일할 수 있게 된 것이 반가운 위로의 소식입니다. 앞으로 크리스천 교사로서 그리스도의 사랑과 인내와 지혜로 초등학교 3학년 학생들을 잘 가르칠 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 현재는 김경선 집사님과 서요석 형제님은 가족들을 보기 위하여 한국을 방문하고 있습니다. 가족들과 좋은 시간을 보내고 무사히 미국으로 귀국할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 제프리 리 장로님과 크리스틴 리 선교사님은 8월 5일부터 약 7개월 동안을 여러 나라를 방문하실 예정입니다. 두 분의 선교 사역과 방문을 위하여 기도해 주세요. 8월13일에 Mr. and Mrs. Orr는 유럽 여행을 떠날 계획을 하고 있습니다. 즐겁고 유쾌한 여행이 되도록 기도해 주세요. 올 여름에는 여러 분들이 우리 교회에 오셨습니다. 취업 이민으로 미국에 오신 가정들입니다. 이 , 전성애 집사님, 유빈, 수현, 지선이 미국에 이민오고 은혜 교회에 왔습니다. 또한 김여정 자매님과 아들 이안이도 은혜교회에 왔습니다. 이주희 집사님은 캐나다에서 미국으로 이민을 오셨고 우리 교회로 왔습니다. 여러분들이 은혜 교회에 오셔서 감사한 일입니다. 어려운 닭 공장 일을 해야 합니다. 아이들은 미국에서 공립 학교를 다녀야 합니다. 언어의 장벽은 높고 문화적 차이를 극복해 가야 합니다. 미국에 잘 정착할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 곧 우리 자녀들은 가을 학기를 시작합니다. 그리고 밥죤스 대학도 8월 말에 가을 학기를 시작합니다. 우리 여러 학생들의 새로운 학기를 위하여 기도해 주세요. 김신자 집사님이 심한 두통을 앓고 있습니다. 두통이 없어지고 건강하게 생활하실 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 그리고 저는 이 번 주에 휴가를 다녀옵니다. 안전하게 잘 다녀올 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다. 무더운 여름인데 건강에 유의하세요. 주님의 은혜로 맡겨진 삶을 지혜롭게 살아 내길 기도합니다. 감사합니다.    

July is already coming to an end and August will soon be here. Every day I'm reminded of how fast time flies. This summer has been very hot, but I'm hopeful that August will bring a break in the heat, and it's comforting to know that everyone's favorite season, fall, will soon be here. Every time I think about it, I feel grateful to live in a place where I can feel the change of the four seasons. I haven't been able to keep you updated on the news of our fellow believers, but I have been sharing some news of them in the weekly bulletin. Today, I would like to summarize their news through the pastoral column. First, three students, Gunwoo Kim, Major Han, and Euntaek Hong, started their military service. Although they enlisted on different dates, they all started their military service this summer. Please pray that they will be able to complete their military service in good health and return to school to pursue their studies. Sungmin Byun graduated in May and has been looking for a job. After submitting hundreds of resumes, God answered our prayers and he started working at Legacy Early College Elementary School last Monday. It is good news that Sungmin will be able to stay and work in Greenville. Please pray that as a Christian teacher, he will be able to teach the third graders well with Christ's love, patience, and wisdom. Currently, Deacon Kyungsun Kim and Brother Yosuk Seo are visiting Korea to see their families. Pray that they will spend quality time with their families and return safely to the United States. Elder Jeffrey Lee and Missionary Christine Lee will be visiting various countries for about seven months starting August 5. Please pray for their missionary work and visits. On August 13, Mr. and Mrs. Orr are planning to leave for a trip to Europe. Please pray for a pleasant and enjoyable trip. We have had several people come to our church this summer. They are families who came to the U.S. through employment immigration. Deacon Lee, Sung Ae Jeon, Yoo Bin, Soo Hyun, and Jisun immigrated to the U.S. and came to Grace Church. Also, Sister Yeo Jung Kim and her son Ian came to Grace Church. Deacon Joo Hee Lee immigrated to the U.S. from Canada and came to our church. We are thankful that they came to Grace Church. They have to do hard chicken factory work. The children have to go to public school in the U.S. The language barrier is high and they have to overcome cultural differences. Please pray that they will settle in well in the U.S. Soon our children will begin their fall semester, and Bob Jones University will begin its fall semester at the end of August. Please pray for the new semester for our students. Deacon Shinja Kim has been suffering from severe headache. Please pray that his headache will go away and that he will stay healthy. Also, I am going on vacation this week. Please pray that I will have a safe trip. It's a hot summer, so take care of your health. I pray that by God’s grace, you will live the life entrusted to you wisely. Thank you.
