믿음과 세계관(Faith and Worldview)

모든 사람은 세상을 이해하는 사고의 틀을 가지고 있습니다. 이러한 사고의 틀을 세계관이라고 정의할 수 있습니다. 세계관은 세상의 기원을 어떻게 이해 하는가에 따라 달라집니다. 세계가 저절로 존재하게 되어 진화하였다고 이해하는 진화론적 세계관이 있고 세계는 하나님의 창조적 뜻의 결과라고 이해하는 창조론적 세계관이 있습니다. 전자를 주장하는 자들은 후자를 미신적이라고 공격합니다. 하지만 분명한 사실은 아무도 세계의 기원을 목격하지 못했고 어떤 증거들을 해석하며 자기가 믿는 주장을 펼치는 것뿐입니다. 결국에 각자는 무엇을 믿을 것인가를 결정하는 것입니다. 사실, 믿음은 세상을 이해하고 삶은 사는데 필수적입니다. 믿음과 세계관은 연결되어 있습니다. 중요한 것은 믿음의 내용과 대상입니다. 믿음의 내용이나 대상이 참이면 그 믿음은 좋은 것입니다. 하지만 믿음의 내용이나 대상이 거짓이면 그 믿음은 잘못된 것입니다. 뉴욕 행 비행기를 서울 행 비행기로 믿는다 해도 그 비행기는 서울로 가지 않습니다. 사실이 아닌 것을 사실로 믿으면 낭패를 볼 수 있습니다. 오늘날 많은 이들이 거짓을 믿으면서도 참을 믿고 있다고 착각합니다. 우리는 성경을 하나님의 말씀으로 믿습니다. 하나님의 존재를 믿습니다. 하나님이 온 세상을 창조하시고 다스리고 있음을 믿습니다. 예수님이 우리를 위하여 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하셨음을 믿습니다. 예수님의 십자가 공로를 통하여 우리 죄가 사하여 졌음을 믿습니다. 죽은 후에는 천국에 가는 것을 믿습니다. 예수님이 다시 오실 것을 믿습니다. 우리의 몸이 예수님 재림 때 다시 부활할 것을 믿습니다. 이 세상의 역사는 끝이 있음을 믿습니다. 이 모든 내용이 거짓이라면 우리는 가장 불쌍한 자가 될 것입니다. 우리가 믿음을 통해서 이해하는 세상, 사건, 삶, 사람, 목적, 의미 등등은 틀린 것이 될 것입니다. 하지만 하나님이 살아 계시고 예수님이 구주이심이 진리이면 그 진리로 세상을 이해하는 우리 사고의 틀은 믿을 만한 것입니다. 예수님이 만물을 다스리시는 권세자라는 믿음은 세상을 이해하는 틀을 새롭게 합니다. 전에는 세상이 우리를 위하여 존재하는 것으로 이해하였습니다. 하지만 이제는 세상이 하나님의 영광을 위하여 존재한다고 이해합니다. 전에는 우리가 세상의 주인이라고 생각했지만 이제는 예수님이 세상의 주인이라고 이해합니다. 하나님이 세상을 관리하도록 우리를 청지기로 세우셨다고 이해합니다. 우리 삶의 주인이 예수님 인 것을 알고 그 삶을 하나님의 영광을 위하여 살기를 힘씁니다. 무엇을 믿는 가에 따라 세상과 삶을 이해하는 사고의 틀이 달라집니다. 우리는 예수님을 구주 하나님으로 믿는 복음적 세계관을 따라 모든 것을 이해하고 그것에 따라 삶을 살아야 합니다. 그릇된 세계관을 따라 살면 비참함을 겪게 될 것 입니다. 기독교적 세계관의 중심에는 하나님의 아들이신 예수 그리스도가 있습니다. 예수 그리스도를 통하여 모든 것을 바르게 해석하고 이해하며 삶을 바르게 사는 것이 믿음입니다. 

All people have a mental framework whereby they understand the world. Such a framework of the mind may be defined as worldview. Depending on an understanding of origin of the world, worldview varies. The evolutionistic worldview sees that the world automatically came into existence and has evolved, whereas the creationistic worldview sees that the world is the byproduct of God’s creative will. Those arguing for the former attack the latter is superstitious. However, it is the obvious fact that no one has witnessed the origin of the world and people, interpreting the pieces of evidence, present their own arguments. After all, each of them determines what to believe for himself or herself. In fact, faith is necessary to understand the world and live a life. Faith and worldview are tied together. What matters is the contents or objects of faith. If they are genuine, faith in them is good. But if they are false, such faith is wrong. Even though we believe a New York-bound flight as a Seoul-bound flight, that New York-bound flight won’t go to Seoul. If we believe what is not factual to be factual, we may suffer a trouble. Today, many believe they believe what is truthful even though they believe what is false. We believe the Bible is the word of God. We believe the existence of God. We believe that God created the whole world and rules over it. We believe that Jesus died for us on the cross and rose from the dead. We believe we are forgiven through the merits of Jesus’ death on the cross. We believe we will go to heaven after death. We believe Jesus will come back. We believe in our bodily resurrection at the return of Jesus. We believe there will be an end to the history of this world. If all this were false, we would be most miserable. And all that we understand by faith about the world, events, life, humanity, purpose, meaning, etc., would be wrong. But if that God is alive and Jesus is the Savior is truthful, our mental framework, whereby we understand the world, is trustworthy. Faith in the truth that Jesus is the authority over all things transforms our mental framework whereby we understand the world. In the past, we thought that this world existed for us. But now we understand that the world exists for the glory of God. Before, we thought we were the masters of the world, but now, we see that Jesus is the Master of the world. We understand ourselves as God-appointed stewards over the world. We know Jesus as the Master of our lives and we strive to live our lives for the glory of God. Depending on what people believe, their mental frameworks, by which they understand the world and life, change. We must understand all things according to the evangelical worldview that trusts Jesus as Savior our God. Also, we must live according to the same worldview. If we live by a wrong worldview, we will suffer misery. The Christian worldview centers around Jesus Christ the Son of God. Rightly interpreting and understanding all things through Jesus Christ, we should live a right life, all of which we call “faith.”
