하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 믿음(God-pleasing faith)

믿음은 기적입니다. 또한 믿음은 하나님의 선물입니다. 우리의 의지나 힘으로 믿음을 만들어 낼 수는 없습니다. 신학적으로 말하면 믿음은 은혜로 우리에게 주어지며 우리는 예수를 우리의 구주와 주님으로 믿게 된 것입니다(엡2:8-9). 인간적으로 말하면 우리 자신이 예수 그리스도를 믿는 것이지 하나님이 우리 대신 믿는 것은 아닙니다. 우리 믿음의 주체는 우리이고 우리 믿음의 대상은 하나님이십니다. 하나님을 믿는 것은 우리입니다. 동시에 우리에게 있는 믿음은 성령의 역사로 주어진 것입니다. 믿음은 성령의 인도하심과 영향력 아래 하나님과 우리 삶 전체와 관련된 우리의 노력, 행함, 태도, 성향을 일컫습니다. 믿음으로 우리는 죄와 사망에서 구원 받고 믿음으로 천국에 들어가게 됩니다. 믿음으로 하나님을 알게 되고 예배하며 그분의 일을 하게 됩니다. 믿음으로 삶의 고난을 견디고 사탄의 유혹을 물리치며 불가능한 일을 행하기도 합니다. 믿음으로 하나님의 치유를 경험하고 하나님의 뜻을 행합니다. 믿음으로 하나님의 은혜와 축복을 받습니다. 믿음으로 죄를 극복하고 하나님의 의를 행합니다. 믿음으로 우리가 하나님의 자녀인 것을 확신합니다. 믿음으로 세상을 이기고 변화시킵니다. 믿음으로 절망을 극복하고 하나님의 위로를 경험합니다. 믿음으로 온 세상에 그리스도의 복음을 선포하며 사람들을 그리스도께로 인도합니다. 믿음으로 성령 충만을 구하고 성령의 열매를 맺습니다. 믿음으로 원수까지 라도 사랑하며 용서합니다. 믿음으로 하나님을 기대하며 천국을 소망합니다. 믿음으로 하나님과 동행하며 천국을 이 땅에서 미리 맛보기도 합니다. 믿음으로 공부하고 일하며 자녀를 키웁니다. 믿음으로 기도하며 응답을 기다립니다. 믿음으로 하나님께 예물을 드리고 구제합니다. 믿음으로 우리에게 맡겨진 삶을 하나님의 청지기로 살아갑니다. 믿음으로 하나님을 영화롭게 하며 그분을 영원히 즐거워합니다. 믿음으로 주님을 의지하며 행하고 모든 것을 맡깁니다. 믿음으로 우리 구원의 시작과 과정과 마지막을 경험합니다. 믿음이 없이는 아무 것도 행하지 않습니다. 그러므로 믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없습니다. 하나님께 나아갈 때는 하나님이 계신 것과 그를 찾는 자들에게 상주시는 이심을 믿어야 합니다(히11:6). 하지만 많은 크리스천들이 진심이 아닌 건성으로 교회에서 예배 형식을 따르면서 자신들이 하나님을 믿으며 찾고 있다고 간주합니다. 하나님은 우리 마음을 보시며 그를 진정으로 믿고 있는지 아닌지를 온전하게 하십니다. 믿음은 자랑하라고 주신 영적 악세서리가 아닙니다. 이미 주신 믿음을 삶의 모든 영역에서 실천해야 합니다. 믿음을 실천하지 않으면 무기력 해지고 병이 듭니다. 믿음이 건강할 수 있도록 말씀의 영양식을 매일 하며 기도의 운동을 해야 합니다. 하나님의 뜻을 이루고 그를 영화롭게 하기 위하여 믿음을 행사해야 합니다. 이러한 믿음이 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 믿음입니다. 

Faith is a miracle. Also, it is a gift of God. We can’t manufacture faith by own will or power. Theologically speaking, faith is given to us by grace so that we have come to believe in Jesus as our Savior and Savior (Eph. 2:8-9). Humanly speaking, we ourselves believe in Jesus Christ, not God believes on behalf of us. The subject of our faith is us, and the object of our faith is God. It is we that believe in God. At the same time, our faith is given by the work of the Holy Spirit. Faith refers to our effort, work, attitude, or disposition in relation to God and our entire life in Christ under the guidance and influence of the Holy Spirit. By faith, we are saved from sin and death and led into heaven. By faith, we get to know and worship God, and do the work of God. By faith, we endure trials in life, defeat the temptations of Satan, and do the impossible. By faith, we experience God’s healing and carry out the will of God. By faith, we receive God’s grace and blessings. By faith, we overcome sin and practice God’s righteousness. By faith, we are convinced we are children of God. By faith, we overcome and transform the world. By faith, we get over despair and experience God’s comfort. By faith, we proclaim the gospel of Christ to the whole world and lead people to Christ. By faith, we seek the filling of the Holy Spirit and bear His fruit. By faith, we love even our enemies and forgive them. By faith, we anticipate God and hope in heaven. By faith, we walk with God and foretaste heaven on earth. By faith, we study, work, and raise our children. By faith, we pray and wait for divine answer. By faith, we offer our offerings and practice almsgiving. By faith, we live a God-entrusted life as God’s stewards. By faith, we act in reliance on God and commit all things to Him. By faith, we experience the beginning, process, and consummation of our salvation. Without faith, we do nothing. Without faith, therefore, we can’t please God. When we draw near to Him, we must believe that God exists and rewards those who seek Him (Heb. 11:6). However, many Christians assume that they believe in God and seek Him even though they perfunctorily and heartlessly follow the rituals of worship in the church. God looks at the heart and knows perfectly whether we truly trust Him or not. Faith is not a spiritual accessory for bragging. We must practice faith already given to us in every area of life. If we don’t practice it, our faith goes powerless and ill. We must daily take the nourishing food of God’s Word and the exercise of prayer. We must exercise faith in order to fulfill the will of God and glorify God. Such faith is a God-pleasing faith.
