재회인 구원(Salvation as Reunion)

구원은 하나님께서 죄인에게 주시는 최고의 선물입니다. 그러므로 우리는 구원을 가장 소중하게 여기며 늘 감사해야 합니다. 안타깝게도 많은 신자들이 구원의 가치를 제대로 알지 못해 그리스도 안에 아무 것도 없는 것처럼 생활합니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 보화를 알지 못해서 영적인 거지처럼 불행하게 사는 것입니다. 하지만 구원은 우리에게 놀라운 기쁨을 주는데 이는 재회의 기쁨입니다. 세 살짜리 딸을 시장에서 잃어 버린 부모가 있었습니다. 부모는 딸을 잃어 버린 것을 자책하며 반 세기를 넘게 딸을 찾았습니다. 수많은 날들을 슬픔 가운데 보냈습니다. 언젠가는 다시 만날 것이란 소망을 포기할 수 없었습니다. 기다리고 또 기다렸습니다. 마침내 DNA 대조를 통해서 딸을 찾았습니다. 감격의 재회가 성사되었습니다. 서로를 부등 껴안고 기쁨의 눈물을 한없이 흘렸습니다. 우리는 이와 비슷한 장면을 탕자 이야기에서 발견합니다. 탕자는 오래 전에 자신이 버렸던 아버지께로 돌아옵니다. 아버지는 그 아들을 한번도 잊지 않고 기다리고 있었습니다. 아버지는 그 아들이 멀리서 오는 것을 보고 그에게 달려가 안고 입맞추며 눈물을 흘렸습니다. 탕자는 회개와 재회의 눈물을 흘립니다. 아버지의 무조건적인 사랑에 감사의 눈물을 흘립니다. 아버지는 아들을 다시 찾은 기쁨의 눈물을 흘립니다. 우리는 여기서 구원의 기쁨이 재회의 기쁨이라는 것을 발견합니다. 우리는 구원을 받을 때 하나님 아버지를 재회하는 기쁨을 느낍니다. 하나님을 아버지라고 부르기 시작합니다. 하나님 아버지가 우리를 사랑으로 지으시고 이 땅에 보내신 것을 깨닫습니다. 우리의 이성으로 이해할 수 없는 하나님의 택정을 믿음으로 감사하며 찬양하게 됩니다. 진정 하나님은 이 세상이 있기 전에 그리스도 안에서 우리를 그의 자녀로 택하셨습니다(엡1:4). 그러나 우리는 탕자처럼 하나님 아버지를 떠나 죄 가운데 방황하였습니다. 복음으로 부르시는 하나님 사랑의 음성을 듣고 회개하며 아버지께로 돌아왔습니다. 뜨거운 눈물을 흘리며 아버지의 넓은 품에 안겼습니다. 처음으로 세상이 알지 못하는 영혼의 위로, 안식, 평안을 경험했습니다. 이러한 은혜의 역사를 통하여 우리는 그 동안 잊고 살았던 하나님 아버지를 재회하게 된 것입니다. 구원은 하나님 아버지의 사랑으로 돌아온 것입니다. 구원은 하나님 아버지와 화목케 되고 재결합한 사건입니다. 하나님 아버지는 우리의 더러운 죄의 옷을 벗시기고 깨끗한 그 아들의 의의 왕복을 입혀 주셨습니다. 구원이 기쁜 이유는 우리 영혼의 아버지를 다시 만났기 때문입니다. 이러한 재회는 넘치는 기쁨을 줍니다. 그리고 그분과 함께 사는 기쁨으로 이어집니다. 이러한 기쁨으로 매일을 사는 것이 신자의 복된 삶입니다. 

Salvation is the best gift of God for sinners. So, we should consider it so precious, always being grateful for it. Unfortunately, many believers fail to appreciate the value of salvation; so, they live as if they had nothing in Christ. Not knowing the treasures in Christ, they live an unfortunate life like a spiritual pauper. But salvation brings us joy, that is, joy of reunion. There were the parents who lost their three-year-old daughter in a market. The parents, blaming themselves for having lost the daughter, had been looking for her longer than half-century. They spent a countless number of days in sadness. They couldn’t give up hoping to see her again. They waited, and waited for the day to meet her. At last, they found her through the DNA comparisons. The touching reunion took place for them. They embraced one another and shed tears of joy profusely. We may find something like it in the story of the prodigal son. The prodigal son came back to the father he had abandoned years ago. The father never forgot his son, not even once, and waited for him. When he saw his son returning at a distance, he ran to him, embraced him, kissed him, and shed tears. The prodigal son shed tear of remorse and reunion. He shed tears of gratitude for his father’s unconditional love. The father shed tears of rediscovering his son. We see here joy of salvation as joy of reunion. When we are saved, we feel a joy of reunion with God the Father. We begin to call God as our Father. We realize God the Father has made us in love and sent us to this world. We give thanks and praises to God for His election which goes beyond our reason. Indeed, God chose us as His children in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4). But like the prodigal son, we left the Father and wandered in sin. Listening to the Father’s calling through the gospel, we returned to Him in repentance. We shed warm tears and threw ourselves upon the Father’s broad bosom. We experienced comfort, rest, and peace in our souls that the world never knew.  Through such a gracious work, we had reunion with God the Father whom we had forgotten in our lives. Salvation is a return to the love of God the Father. Salvation is a reconciliation with God the Father and reunion with Him. God the Father took off our sinful clothes and clothed us with the royal robe of His son’s righteousness. The reason we rejoice in salvation is that we have met with the Father of our souls again. Such a reunion brings us overflowing joy. And it leads to joy of living together with Him. Blessed is the life of a believer who lives each day with such joy.
