대반전(Great Reversal)

그리스도의 십자가는 대반전의 역사입니다. 세상은 그리스도의 십자가에서 그리스도의 절망, 정죄, 죽음, 실패, 패배만을 보았습니다. 하지만 하나님은 그리스도의 십자가에서 소망, 용서, 생명, 성공, 승리를 선포하셨습니다. 사탄은 그리스도를 죽이면 승리할 것이라고 확신했습니다. 하지만 그는 영원히 패배하였습니다. 하나님은 그리스도의 죽음을 통하여 영원한 승리를 거두시고 새로운 시작을 선언하셨습니다. 그리스도의 죽음을 통하여 그를 믿는 자들에게 완전한 용서와 영원한 생명을 주셨습니다. 그 증거는 그리스도의 부활입니다. 그리스도는 그의 죽음을 통하여 사망의 권세를 깨뜨리셨습니다. 그리고 그의 부활을 통하여 하나님과 함께 하는 영원한 생명의 길을 열어 놓으셨습니다. 그리스도는 죽으시므로 사셨습니다.  이것은 역설입니다. 이것은 대반전입니다. 사람들은 죽으면 모든 것이 끝난다고 생각합니다. 그런데 그리스도의 죽음에서 생명이 솟아난 것은 신비입니다. 그리스도는 죽음의 고통을 통하여 영광에 이르렀습니다. 이것이 기독교의 놀라운 진리입니다. 그리스도는 세상의 길과 반대의 길을 걸으셨습니다. 세상은 성공하려면 남을 제치고 이겨야 한다고 말합니다. 하지만 그리스도는 성공하려면 남을 섬겨야 한다고 말합니다. 세상은 자신을 위해 살아야 행복하다고 말합니다. 하지만 그리스도는 자기를 위해 살면 죽는다고 말합니다. 오히려 자기의 생명을 잃어버리면 산다고 말합니다. 하나님을 위해서 생명을 잃으면 생명을 얻습니다. 이웃을 위해서 생명을 드리면 생명을 얻습니다. 자기를 부인하고 십자가를 지고 그리스도를 따르면 참 생명의 삶을 삽니다. 이것은 세상의 가르침과는 정반대입니다. 세상은 하나님이 구시대의 산물이기에 제거 대상이라고 주장합니다. 자기 충족, 자기 실현이 행복의 지름길이라고 주장합니다. 하지만 이러한 주장은 현실적으로 성립될 수 없습니다. 그리스도 안에서 자족하지 않으면 참된 만족은 없습니다. 자기 만족을 추구하면 할수록 마음의 공허가 더 커집니다. 자기 만족은 마약과 같아서 파멸로 끝납니다. 그리스도는 자기를 비우고 잊으라고  가르치십니다. 그는 하나님이심에도 자신을 비우시고 십자가에서 죽으셨습니다. 그는 세상의 권력자를 등용하여 그의 나라를 경영하지 않았습니다. 오히려 소외된 자, 약한 자를 택하여 세상의 똑똑한 자를 부끄럽게 하셨습니다. 그는 배척 받는 사람들을 받아 주시고 인정해 주셨습니다. 진실로 그는 병든 자를 위하여 이 땅에 오신 치유자이셨습니다. 그는 섬김을 받기 위하여 오신 것이 아니라 오히려 섬기려 오셨습니다. 남들 위해 군림하려고 권세를 부리지 않았습니다. 오히려 남들을 섬기므로 참된 왕권을 세우셨습니다. 세상은 이것을 이해하지 못합니다. 그래서 그리스도의 길을 거부합니다. 오늘날 많은 교회가 세상의 길을 따르고 있습니다. 인기, 명성, 권력을 성공의 기준으로 삼습니다. 하지만 예수님은 섬김, 희생, 약함을 참된 위대함의 척도로 삼습니다. 예수님은 남들을 섬기고 희생하며 약해지시므로 참된 위대함을 보여주셨습니다. 우리는 예수님의 가신 길을 따라야 합니다. 그 길은 많은 고통이 있습니다. 어렵습니다. 하지만 그 길만이 참된 영광의 길입니다. 

The cross of Christ is a great reversal. The world has seen only Christ’s despair, condemnation, death, failure, and defeat in His cross. However, God has declared hope, forgiveness, life, success, and victory in the cross of Christ. Satan was convinced he would gain victory if he put Christ to death. But he was eternally vanquished. But God won eternal victory through Christ’s death and declared a new beginning. He has granted His believers perfect forgiveness and eternal life through Christ’s death. The resurrection of Christ testifies to this truth. Christ broke the power of death through His death. And He opened the way of eternal life with God through His resurrection. Christ lived by dying. This is a paradox. It is a great reversal. People suppose everything will be over when they die. But that life has gushed out of Christ’s death is a mystery. Christ reached glory through the suffering of His death. This is a wonderful truth of Christianity. Christ walked the way contrary to that of the world. The world says, “If you want to succeed, you must outwit others and win against them. But Christ says, “If you want to succeed, you must serve others. The world says you must live for yourself so that you can be happy. But Christ says you will die if you live for yourself; rather, if you lose your life, you will live. If you lose your life for the sake of God, you will find life. If you give your life for your neighbor, you will find life. If you deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ, you live a true life. This is antithetical to the teaching of the world. The world argues that God is a product of bygone days to be removed. It argues that self-gratification, self-realization is a shortcut to happiness. But such argument is practically untenable. Unless we are content in Christ, we can’t find true satisfaction. The more we pursue self-gratification, the emptier we feel. Self-gratification is like a drug leading to destruction. Christ teaches us self-emptying and self-forgetfulness. Though He was God, Christ emptied Himself and died on the cross. He didn’t operate His kingdom by employing the powerful of the world. Rather, He put the smart of the world to shame by choosing the marginalized and the weaklings. He embraced and acknowledged the rejected. Indeed, He came to this world as a Healer for the sick. He came not to be served, but to serve. He didn’t exercise His authority to lord over others. Instead, He established His true kingship by serving others. The world can’t understand it. So, it rejects the way of Christ. Many churches today follow the way of the world. They take popularity, fame, or power as the basis of success. But, Jesus takes service, sacrifice, and weakness as the criteria of true greatness. Jesus demonstrated true greatness by serving, sacrificing, and becoming weak for others. We must take the path Jesus had trodden. There is much suffering in that path. It is tough. But this is the only way to true glory.
