코로나와 함께(With Corona)

전에는 코로나란 단어를 몰랐습니다. 캘리포니아에 있는 코로나란 도시 이름만 알고 있었습니다. 아마도 대부분의 사람들이 코로나가 무엇인지 몰랐을 것입니다. 하지만 지금은 전 세계 사람이 아는 단어가 되었습니다. 2020년과 2021년도 사람들의 마음에 가장 깊게 새겨진 단어가 바로 코로나 바이러스일 것입니다. 코로나 바이러스는 순식간에 전 세계를 삼키고 세계 역사에 이름을 떨치는 팬데믹으로 자리 매김을 하였습니다. 세계 경제를 갑자기 얼어 붙었습니다. 국경을 봉쇄 되었습니다. 학교, 회사, 식당, 관공서가 문을 받았습니다. 교회도 문을 닫아야 했습니다. 세상이 멈춘 듯 했습니다. 병원과 온라인 매장 만 바쁘게 돌아가는 듯 했습니다. 측량할 수 없는 손해와 고통을 남겨주었습니다. 첫 해는 이렇게 후딱 지나갔습니다. 제약 회사들이 백신을 출시했습니다. 백신 접종으로 코로나가 잡히는 듯 했습니다. 그런데 델타 변이가 그러한 기대를 깼습니다. 사람들의 인내는 바닥이 났습니다. 코로나를 일반적인 플루로 간주하기 시작했습니다. 다행스럽게도 델타 변이가 한 풀 꺾였습니다. 현재는 코로나 팬데믹이 일상이 되었습니다. 닫혔던 문들이 열리기 시작했습니다. 더 사람들이 여행을 하기 시작했습니다. 이젠 코로나와 함께 살아가는 시간이 된 것 같습니다. 많은 나라들이 코로나와 함께 살아가는 정책을 폈습니다. 불가피한 결정이었습니다. 우리는 코로나와 함께 살아가는 현실을 받아 드리고 있습니다. 우리 교회도 이러한 현실을 수락하며 2022년을 계획해야 할 때가 되었습니다. 곧 2021년이 저물게 됩니다. 그 동안 하나님의 은혜로 한 해를 달려 왔습니다. 우리 가운데도 여러 분이 코로나 바이러스에 감염되어 고생하였습니다. 다행히도 모두가 온전히 회복되었습니다. 감사한 일이었습니다. 코로나 바이러스 치료약도 곧 출시가 됩니다. 원하는 때 백신도 접종할 수 있습니다. 이제는 코로나에 대한 두려움으로 마비될 필요는 없습니다. 우리는 교회의 모임을 다시금 재개해야 할 때가 된 것 같습니다. 교회에서 모이지 못하면 줌으로 모임을 가질 수 있습니다. 내년에는 수요 성경 공부 모임을 시작할 수 있습니다. 교회 회의나 기도 모임도 온라인으로 열 수 있습니다. 앞으로는 교회 모임과 줌 모임을 활용하여 우리의 영적 필요를 채울 수 있을 것 같습니다. 카카오 토크를 통한 매일 QT는 계속할 계획입니다. 친교 모임도 다시금 시작할 때가 다가 올 것으로 기대합니다. 가난한 이웃을 돕는 사역도 재개하려 합니다. 난민 사역에도 참여하려 합니다. 코로나와 함께 동거하는 것이 편치 만은 않습니다. 하지만 조심스럽게 앞으로 나아가야 할 때가 되었습니다. 주님을 신뢰하며 주님의 인도하심을 기도합니다. 하나님이 은혜로 우리의 마음을 준비시켜 주시고 여러 모임과 사역의 길을 열어 주시길 기도합니다. 함께 기도해 주시길 부탁드립니다. 

I didn’t know the word “Corona” in the past. I knew “Corona” as the name of city in California. Probably, most people may not have known what the word meant. Now, however, the whole world knows what it is. In 2020 and 2021, this word have probably deeply been etched on the tablets of the heats of people. Coronavirus all of a sudden has taken the whole captive. It has secured its place as a notorious pandemic in world history. World economy were suddenly frozen. Borders were sealed. Schools, companies, restaurants, public institutions were closed. Churches had to be closed. It seemed as if the whole world simply stopped. Hospitals and online markets alone seemed to be busy. The pandemic has left incalculable losses and pains behind. The first year quickly passed. Pharmaceutical companies put out their vaccines. Vaccinations seemed to put the Covid-19 under control. But Delta-variants shattered our expectation. Our patience thinned out. People began to view the Covid-19 as one of the regular flu. Fortunately, the Delta Variant was on the decline. Currently, the pandemic has become part of daily life. Closed doors got opened again. More people began to travel. Apparently, we have reached the phrase in which we live with Corona. Many countries rolled out the policies for “Living With Corona!” Such decisions were unavoidable. We are accepting the reality that we are living together with Corona. Our Grace Church should accept the reality, too. And we should make plans for 2022. Soon, 2021 will come to an end. Thus far, we have come to this point by God’s grace. Infected with coronavirus,  several of us suffered pain. Fortunately, all of them got fully recovered. We are so thankful for that. Coronavirus treatment pills will be put out soon. We can get vaccination whenever we want. Now, we don’t need to be paralyzed with fear of coronavirus. We have reached a point that we need to resume our church meetings. If we can’t come to the church, we can hold Zoom meetings. Next year, we can hold Wednesday Bible Study. We can hold online church discussions and prayer meetings. In the days to come, we can meet our spiritual needs through meetings at the church or Zoom meetings. We are planning to continue our Daily QT through KakaoTalk. Hopefully, we may resume our fellowship meal sometime later. We will resume our Street Ministry to help the needy. We are planning to participate in a refugee ministry. We may feel still uncomfortable with living with corona. But, it is time to move on cautiously. Relying on the Lord, I pray for His guidance. I pray that God prepares our hearts and opens a way to various meeting and ministries. I plead with you to pray with me.
