멈출 수 없는 기도(Unstoppable Prayers)

우리가 절박한 심정으로 기도할 수 밖에 없는 문제는 어떤 것이 있을까요? 그것은 사랑하는 자녀들 문제입니다. 부모의 뜻에 완전하게 순종하며 아무런 문제 없이 자라는 아이는 없을 것입니다. 그래서 부모는 마음이 편치 않을 때가 많습니다. 왜 부모는 아이들의 기도를 멈출 수 없는 것일까요? 첫째는 아이들을 사랑하기 때문입니다. 아이가 아프고 성적이 좋지 않고 말을 잘 듣지 않아도 내 아이이기 때문에 부모는 그 자식을 사랑할 수 밖에 없습니다. 눈에 넣어도 아프지 않은 자녀를 향한 사랑의 마음이 자녀를 향한 기도를 멈출 수 없는 주된 이유입니다. 학교는 문제아로 나의 아이를 포기하지만 나는 나의 아이를 포기할 수 없습니다. 어떻게 어미가 그 젖먹이를 잊을 수 있겠습니까? 자녀를 향한 부모의 사랑은 하나님이 주신 선물입니다. 그 사랑을 잘 표현하는 분명한 방법은 아이들을 위하여 기도를 멈추지 않는 것입니다. 둘째, 세상이 악하기 때문입니다. 예기치 않은 사고, 각종 중독, 마약, 게임, 포르노, 동성애, 왜곡된 젠더 이슈, 물질주의, 하나님을 대적하는 사상들, 퇴폐적인 향락주의 등에 우리 아이들은 노출되어 있습니다. 아이들을 주의 훈계와 양육으로 키우는 것이 전보다도 더욱 어려워졌습니다. 하나님의 도우심이 없이는 자녀 양육의 무게를 감당할 수 없습니다. 하나님의 지혜와 격려와 힘주심을 의지하는 기도는 마음에 안식과 소망을 줍니다. 셋째, 자녀는 하나님이 주신 가장 소중한 선물입니다. 이 말은 자녀가 우리의 소유라는 것을 뜻하지는 않습니다. 하나님은 부모는 자녀를 양육하라고 가정에 그의 청지기로 세워 주셨습니다. 맡겨 주신 자녀를 사랑으로 보살피고 말씀으로 양육하며 기도로 축복하고 키우는 부모는 충성된 하나님의 청지기입니다. 안타깝게도 삶에는 원치 않는 일들이 발생합니다. 학교에서 왕따를 당해 자살 충동에 시달리는 아이, 난치병으로 고통을 당하는 아이, 일탈을 일삼는 아이, 부모의 말을 거역하고 반항하는 아이, 공부를 포기하고 게임 중독에 빠진 아이, 기독교는 가짜라며 예수님을 믿지 않겠다고 소리지르는 아이, 불면에 시달리며 정신적으로 혼돈에 빠진 아이 등등, 많은 부모님들이 남들에게 말도 못하고 홀로 신음합니다. 하나님 외에는 어디에서도 소망과 위로와 안식을 발견할 수 없습니다. 하나님은 부모의 빰에 흐르는 눈물을 기억하시고 닦아 주시는 분입니다. 눈물로 심겨진 부모의 기도는 하나님 마음과 손을 움직이는 신비이며 자녀의 삶에 맺히게 될 맛난 열매가 될 것입니다. 부모의 기도는 자녀의 삶을 하나님의 은혜에 묶어 두는 복의 통로입니다. 

What kind of problems do we have that make us pray with desperation? It's the problems of our beloved children. No child grows up completely obedient to his or her parents' will and without any problems, which is why parents are often frustrated. Why can't parents stop praying for their children? First, because they love their children. Even if a child is sick, has poor grades, and doesn't listen well, the parents can't help but love that child because he or she is their child. The heart of love for a child that doesn't hurt when you put it in your eyes is the main reason why parents can't stop praying for their children. The school gives up on my child as a problem child, but I can't give up on my child. How can a mother forget that suckling? A parental for children is a gift from God, and an obvious way to express that love well is to never stop praying for them. Second, because the world is evil. Our children are exposed to unexpected accidents, various addictions, drugs, games, pornography, homosexuality, distorted gender issues, materialism, anti-God ideologies, decadent hedonism, etc. Raising children in the admonition and nurture of the Lord has never been more difficult. We cannot bear the weight of raising children without God's help. Prayer, relying on God's wisdom, encouragement, and strength, gives our hearts rest and hope. Third, children are God's most precious gift to us. This does not mean that they are our possessions. God has placed parents in the home as His stewards to raise children. Parents who lovingly care for the children entrusted to them, nurture them with the Word, bless them with prayer, and build them up are faithful stewards of God. Unfortunately, unwanted things happen in life. A child who is bullied at school and has suicidal thoughts, a child who suffers from an incurable disease, a child who is deviant, a child who rebels against his parents, a child who gives up studying and becomes addicted to games, a child who screams that Christianity is fake and refuses to believe in Jesus, a child who suffers from insomnia and is mentally confused, and so on, many parents groan alone, unable to speak to others. Nowhere else can they find hope, comfort, and rest except in God. God is the one who remembers and wipes away the tears that run down parents' cheeks. Parents' prayers, planted in tears, are a mystery that moves God's heart and hand and will be the delicious fruit that will bear in their children's lives. Parents' prayers are a blessed channel that binds their children's lives to God's grace.
