창세기 공부를 마치며(Finished with the study of Genesis)

이번 주에 창세기 공부를 마쳤습니다. 창세기 묵상에 참여하신 분들에게 격려의 박수를 보내드립니다. 수고 많으셨습니다. 말씀 묵상을 통하여 많은 것을 배우셨을 것입니다. 우리는 그 동안 하나님의 창조, 사랑, 진노, 심판, 선택, 언약, 복, 약속, 목적, 섭리, 구원 등에 대하여 배웠습니다. 또한 죄와 그 결과에 대하여도 생각해 보았습니다. 인간의 원죄, 교만, 탐욕, 질투, 살인, 술취함, 성 범죄, 싸움, 편애, 거짓, 술수, 이기심, 배신 등에 대하여 살펴 보았습니다. 또한 믿음, 소망, 사랑, 화해, 섬김, 희생, 의, 계약, 용기, 가족, 지혜 등을 생각하였습니다. 출생, 고통, 슬픔, 죽음 등 사람의 인생에 대하여 묵상하였습니다. 저는 창세기 묵상을 통하여 크게 몇 가지를 돌아보았습니다. 첫째, 하나님의 원 창조는 모두 선합니다. 하나님은 사람이 그분의 선을 누리도록 환경을 조성해 주시고 사명을 주셨습니다. 사람은 하나님과 교제하며 행복한 삶을 살도록 지음 받았습니다. 둘째, 하지만 죄는 하나님과 단절을 가져왔습니다. 죄는 사람을 파괴하고 관계를 파괴하며 온갖 문제를 야기합니다. 죄 보다 큰 문제는 없습니다. 모든 문제의 뿌리가 됩니다. 사람 스스로는 죄 문제를 해결할 수 없습니다. 셋째, 그래서 하나님은 은혜로 여자의 후손, 곧 예수 그리스도를 죄 문제의 해결책으로 주셨습니다. 창세기 3:15에서 약속하신 여자의 후손을 보내 주신 것입니다. 하나님은 그리스도 안에서 주권적 사랑으로 우리를 택정하시고 구원해 주신 것입니다. 우리는 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭다 함을 받았습니다. 넷째, 구원 받은 사람은 하나님의 약속을 믿고 인생 행로를 여행합니다. 우리는 하나님의 임재와 그분을 뜻을 이루시는 약속을 믿고 인생 험로를 견디며 살아가야 합니다. 다섯째, 하나님은 그분의 선하신 섭리로 그 백성을 위하여 일하십니다. 인생 여정에는 실망, 고통, 실패, 아픔이 많습니다. 특히 가족에게 당하는 배신과 아픔이 있습니다. 하지만 이 모든 과정을 통하여 하나님은 우리와 함께 하십니다. 우리를 하나님의 종으로 훈련하며 빗으십니다. 현재의 고난이 장차 나타날 영광과 족히 비교할 수 없습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 그 사랑하는 자들을 위하여 모든 것을 합력하여 선으로 이루시기 때문입니다. 여섯째, 하나님은 우리를 천국 가나안으로 인도해 주십니다. 이스라엘의 족장들은 하나님이 약속하신 땅에 묻히거나 묻히길 소망하며 죽었습니다. 우리도 천국 가나안에 들어갈 것을 믿으며 언젠가는 생애를 마무리 할 것입니다. 창세기를 마치며 하나님의 선하신 창조와 섭리에 감사할 뿐입니다. 지금까지 인도하신 하나님, 앞으로 함께 하시어 그분의 선하신 뜻을 이루실 하나님을 찬양합니다.  

We have completed the study of Genesis this week. I send my big applause to those of you who have participated in meditating on the book of Genesis. You have done a good job. I believe that you have learned a lot by through meditation of the Word. Thus far, we have learned of God’s creation, love, wrath, judgment, election, covenant, blessing, promise, purpose, providence, salvation, and so on. Also, we have thought about sin and its consequences. We have examined man’s original sin, pride, greed, jealousy, murder, drunkenness, sexual crimes, conflicts, favoritism, falsehood, deceitfulness, selfishness, betrayal, and so on. We have thought about faith, hope, love, reconciliation, service, sacrifice, righteousness, covenant, courage, family, wisdom, and the like. We have meditated on birth, pain, sadness, death, etc., with regard to one’s life. I have reflected on several points through our Genesis meditation. First, God’s original creation was all good. God created an environment suitable for man to enjoy His goodness and gave him His mission. Man was created to have fellowship with God and live a happy life. Second, however, sin separated man from God. It destroys man and relationship, causing all kinds of problem. There is no greater problem than sin. It is the root of all problems. Man can’t solve the problem of sin for himself. Third, thus, God has given Jesus Christ, “the Seed of the woman,” by grace as the solution to man’s sin. God sent the Seed of the woman promised in Gen. 3:15. God elected us in Christ and granted us salvation by His sovereign love. We are justified by faith in Christ. Fourth, saved people take their life-journey by faith in God’s promise. We should go through a tough way of life by trusting God’s promise about His personal presence and fulfillment of His will. Fifth, God works for His people by His good providence. There are plenty of disappointments, pains, failures, and sorrows. In particular, there are betrayal and pain from family members. But God is with us through all this process. God trains and molds us to be God’s servants. Our present afflictions are not comparable to the glory which will be revealed in the future, for God works everything out for the good of His beloved. Sixth, God will lead us to the heavenly Canaan. Buried in Canaan or hoping to be buried there, Israel’s patriarchs died. One day, we will complete our lives as we hope to enter the heavenly Canaan. Finishing the book of Genesis, I am only grateful to God for His good creation and providence. I sing praises to God who have guided us thus far and will fulfill His good purpose through His presence with us.
